Worke & Co. 1769-70 year, Repousse dial, Calendar

2,500.00

Old 1769's Repose dial and Calendar onion pocket watch by Worke & Company of Amsterdam. The ornate movement, ornate pair case and orgate dial all match dates and maker to John Worke. As Baillie indicates the timepiece maker crafted "Dutch-style" movements and practiced his craftsmanship between the dates of 1760-85 years. The back of the dial has wheels which control the Day/date and the timepiece weight is 106.9g. This is a "NON-RUNNER" and what I can tell you from disassembling & reassembling: (1) the balance staff is fine and ticks when you lightly shake the movement, (2) the chain is broken, but both hooks are there, (3) there appears to be one missing wheel under the dial fro day/date and (4) one of the pillar needs slight repair, but will not effect the movement due to Tompion regulator screws hold the plates tightly in place.

Conclusion: A good craftsman will be able to fix this 1760-s timepiece.
